Hey, I’m Erno Herder — producer, DJ, and label owner with nearly 30 years of experience in the music world. I create under several aliases: Basscontroll, Rave Qontroll, and !llustr8tor.
My journey started early. At around ten years old, I was already “mixing” with two cassette decks, pretending to be a radio DJ while blending 70s and 80s disco tracks. That playful curiosity quickly grew into something bigger. When I was sixteen, I bought my first Pentium II PC, and a whole new universe opened up. With tools like ReBirth, MadTracker, FruityLoops, and Mixman Pro, I knew I wanted to understand everything about music production.
Growing up, I was surrounded by my dad’s vinyl collection — Pink Floyd, The Doors, The Police, and countless electronic‑influenced records. Those sounds shaped my taste and pushed me toward the idea of becoming a DJ and eventually a producer, even though producing wasn’t my main focus at first.
In 2010, I bought my first MIDI DJ controller, the Behringer BCD3000, which soon evolved into a Reloop Digital Jockey 2. I started performing at home using Virtual DJ, later switching to Traktor Pro — and that’s where my love for controllers and digital performance really took off.
A turning point came in 2017. Due to illness, I found myself with more time and motivation to dive back into production. I began recreating the styles I always loved: Techno, Trance, Hardcore, and later expanding into Hip Hop, Rap, and Trap.
In 2021, the next chapter began: Bass Controllism Records. A label built to give talented artists from around the world a platform to connect, collaborate, and grow together. A place where creativity meets community.
